SVA
Does anyone know if this is a good school? I've heard some pretty bad things but maybe those were just coming from burn outs
It's actually a really good school, if you know what you want - it has some of the best professors, great reputation, etc. That being said, it does seem to produce a lot of burnouts. Nov. 22, 2012, 11:59 a.m.
Unless you're studying graphic design or advertising its just OK... But if you want an easy school, that's the easiest in NYC (not counting FIT lol). Nov. 25, 2012, 6:27 p.m.
Didn't go there, but heard it had one of the highest undergraduate workloads in the country - it can't be that easy, maybe hence the burnouts. Nov. 27, 2012, 7:45 a.m.
It's a total nightmare. AVOID. Those were the most existentially painful years of my life, a wasteland... filled with idiots Nov. 29, 2012, 11:32 p.m.
oh! and brute incompetence! Nov. 29, 2012, 11:33 p.m.
And fucking Bill Beckley... Nov. 29, 2012, 11:33 p.m.
What's wrong with Bill Beckley? Had him as a professor, he was insightful, educated and articulate? I hope that was a joke... Dec. 1, 2012, 5:32 p.m.
There are good art schools in NYC, SVA is no longer one of them. Dec. 3, 2012, 2:18 p.m.
All right... so what are these good art schools? Need advice. Dec. 3, 2012, 8:02 p.m.
Depends-- undergrad or grad? Dec. 3, 2012, 10:45 p.m.
Undergrad. Feel free to throw the names of some grad schools in just in case, might need them later.

I think SVA is kind of a scam, they have like 60% admission rate.... makes me want to meet the rejects... Dec. 4, 2012, 3:13 p.m.
I agree, don't go to a specialized art school for undergrad. Less than 1% of BFA graduates go on to make a living from their artwork, with statistics like that you want to have a back up plan... and if you're serious after 4 years you can always go to grad school for art. Dec. 4, 2012, 10:45 p.m.
And yes, Cooper Union would be great, of course - aren't some students currently barricaded inside and refuse to come out until the president steps down? Dec. 4, 2012, 10:47 p.m.
